Get to know Pain Management Specialist Dr. Gladstone C. McDowell II, who serves patients in Columbus, Ohio.

Being a board-certified pain management specialist, Dr. McDowell II provides pain evaluation, diagnosis, and customized pain relief treatment plans. Currently, he serves as the CEO and Medical Director of Integrated Pain Solutions in Columbus, Ohio.

In his professional experience, Dr. McDowell II is the former Medical Director of Grant Pain Management Center and the former Director of Pain Services for Grant Medical Center, Ohio Health. He has held faculty appointments at the National Patient Safety Congress meetings and the National Institute for Healthcare Fraud. He has also been the Primary Pain Consultant for Care Leaders and TMIT. 

In his current capacity, he is on the Board of the Texas Medical Institute of Technology, Community Emergency Health Initiative, and the Ohio Clinical Advisory Board of the National Multiple Sclerosis Association. He recently taught at the FBI Health Care Fraud Managers Meeting and served on the 2007 and 2011 International Polyanalgesic Consensus Panel.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1982 when he earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Colorado in Denver, followed by a fellowship in urologic oncology at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He also performed a fellowship in pain management within the Department of Anesthesiology at Ohio State Pain Control Center.

Recognized for his clinical expertise, Dr. McDowell II’s research has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has authored book chapters regarding urology and anesthesiology. He is also certified as a Patient Safety Officer by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. 

In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains a member of the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
