Get to know Medical Oncologist Dr. Mark N. Hendrixoson, who serves patients in Crossville, Tennessee.

A board-certified medical oncologist, Dr. Hendrixson sees patients at his private practice, Upper Cumberland Cancer Care. He has special training in symptomatic care and end of life issues. He also has an interest in integrative oncology. This is the use of natural and complementary therapies for the relief of symptoms of cancer or its treatment.

Upper Cumberland Cancer Care is the premier oncology practice in Crossville, Tennessee and the surrounding area and is dedicated to providing patients with the knowledge, hope and support that will empower them to take an active role in their treatment and healing options. Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Hendrixson received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Memphis – College of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. He then completed his fellowship in medical oncology at East Tennessee State University, as well.

As a testament of his continued education, he is board-certified in medical oncology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Alongside his private practice, Dr. Hendrixson served as the Vice Chief of Staff at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. He also served as Medical Director for Quality Hospice Care, based in Jamestown, Tennessee for over two years.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, he is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Physicians, and the Tennessee Oncology Practice Society.

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A medical professional who practices oncology is an oncologist. They treat cancer using chemotherapy or other medications, such as targeted therapy or immunotherapy.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Hendrixson has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2016) and On-Time Doctor Award (2016).

A Crossville native with family roots going back several generations, he and his wife, Jan, live in the northern part of the county on property that has been in his family for over 100 years. They are involved in companion animal rescue, and are principals in a 501©3 public charity – Focus on Cumberland County Animal Safety (FOCCAS).
