Dr. Michael Kuhn is an Orthopedic Surgeon with a subspecialty in Sports Medicine and Advanced Arthroscopic Reconstruction based in the Middletown, CT area. His practice includes non-operative and operative treatment of athletes of all ages and activity levels.  From the high level collegiate and professional athlete to the patient who just wants to return to normal activities after an injury or illness, Dr Kuhn's expertise includes surgical reconstruction of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle.  He has extensive experience in treating traumatic injuries after 27 years of Active Duty service in the US Navy including treatment of battle injuries and athletes at the US Naval Academy, his alma mater.  Dr Kuhn's surgical service includes ligament and cartilage repair, shoulder reconstructions including rotator cuff repair and advanced techniques in rotator cuff reconstruction.  He treats elbow instability, tendon, and cartilage injuries.  With extensive experience in hip surgery, Dr Kuhn has a high volume hip arthroscopy practice inclduing treatment of femoroacetabular impingement.  He has cutting edge experience in knee injuries with cartilage and ligament surgery as well as cartilage and meniscal transplantation.  Dr Kuhn pioneered an all Arthroscopic knee cartilage transplantation procedure being the first to bring this technique to the US.

When repair is no longer possible, Dr Kuhn is an expert in joint replacement surgeries including shoulder replacements, reverse replacements, computer assisted knee replacements, and anterior total hip replacements.

Treating all patients like family, Dr Kuhn seeks all courses of non-operative care when possible prior to surgery including injection therapies and cutting edge stem cell transplantation for joint injuries.  Dr Kuhn welcomes all patients who want to improve their function and quality of life to partner with him on this process.
