Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Gury Doshi, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.
Recognized as a fellowship-trained hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Doshi treats various cancers including breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, as well as benign and malignant blood disorders, among others. She is the Medical Director of Oral Oncolytics at Texas Oncology, seeing patients at the offices in Bellville, Houston, and Katy, Texas.
Texas Oncology was founded in 1986 by a forward-thinking group of physicians who shared a vision to chart their own course. They believed there was a better way to provide cancer care. Together, they made community-based cancer treatment a reality. To date, the staff remains true to the practice’s core mission “to provide excellent, evidence-based care for each patient we serve, while advancing cancer care for tomorrow.”
Prior to joining Texas Oncology in 2010, Dr. Doshi served as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Oncology at The University of Texas at the Texas Medical Center.
In her current capacity, she is the Associate Chair of the Genitourinary Committee of US Oncology Research. She joined the program in 2012 and has quickly risen as a leader, serving as the Principal Investigator for multiple studies and as a top enroller to clinical trials year after year. Her special interest is in the treatment of genitourinary tumors; prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers. She conducts clinical research trials at her Memorial City office. Her research publications include a review on sequencing therapies in metastatic renal cell carcinoma, and the use of morpho proteomic analysis to determine the selection of therapy in kidney cancer.
Back in 2000, Dr. Doshi obtained her medical degree from J.J.M Medical College in India. Upon relocating to the United States, she went on to serve her residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She then completed her fellowship at the Josephine Ford Cancer Center in Detroit, where she served as a Chief Fellow.
Dedicated to her profession, the doctor is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Among her professional affiliations, she is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society.
As a testament to her success, Dr. Doshi was named “Houston’s Top Doctors” by Houstonia Magazine (2013, 2014) and Physician Research Champion in the Gulf Coast Region by Texas Oncology. She was also awarded the “Rising Star” Award by the US Oncology Research, Annual Science Forum (2016).
