  • Will heel spur heal on its own?

The heel spur will not dissolve on its own. However, the inflammation that is caused by the ligament or muscle attached to the bone that caused the heel spur, can resolve on its own. READ MORE

  • What is the best treatment for heel spurs?

It all depends on where the heel spur is located. Is it on the bottom of the heel or is it in the back? If it is on the back of the heel, when does it hurt? Is the skin where it hurts red? Does the area appear swollen or puffy? Does it hurt when you walk? Is it sore when you get up out of bed in the morning? Is it sore when you get up after sitting for a long period of time? The answer to those questions would allow me to provide a better answer. READ MORE

  • What is the treatment for broken foot toe?

If the bones are not separated, then splinting the toe to its neighbor for 6 weeks is the treatment. If the x-rays show that the bones are separated and not well aligned, then surgical correction to reset them is recommended. READ MORE

  • How long after ankle surgery can I run?

That depends on the type of surgery you are having done. READ MORE

  • How soon after ankle surgery can I drive?

That depends on what was done. READ MORE

  • Can an ankle brace help with pain?

It all depends on what is causing the pain. If it is tendinitis or a sprained ankle, the ankle brace would be helpful but may not be the only care you need. If on the other hand the pain is caused by a tumor of one sort or another, then the brace is no good. Plus waiting to get a definitive diagnosis may not be in your favor. READ MORE

  • Infected area under foot - wart?

From the picture, it looks like a wart, but rom your description it has been self- treated which may very well have altered the true look of the lesion. It's not a matter of cleaning it, but rather getting rid of the wart which is caused by a virus. You can start by using over the counter wart medication; however, it would be best to see a podiatrist and make sure that it is a wart before putting medication on it. READ MORE

  • Swelling in feet and ankles

The scenario you tell makes it sound like you have what is called venous insufficiency. However, you are very young to have that problem. There is a test that can be done to test for it called a venous duplex that can be ordered by a podiatrist. READ MORE

  • Ingrown toenail removal months later

It sounds like the dark bruise is blood underneath the remaining part of the toenail. That is not unusual or anything to be concerned about. As the nail grows out the dried blood will come along with it. This can take a year or so. As far as the patch at the base of the nail, it sounds like it is a new toenail. Anytime there is trauma or infection to a toenail, the body frequently generates a new toenail. That is my take on your description without seeing a picture of the patch and toenail. READ MORE

  • How can I relieve my ankle pain?

There are dozens of reasons for ankle pain. Until I have a diagnosis, I can't help you. READ MORE

  • How can I deal with chronic ankle pain?

In order to answer that question, i need to know what is causing the pain. Is it a nerve problem, worn out joint, an old fracture, etc. READ MORE

  • Is ankle ligament surgery painful?

It is not unusual to expect some discomfort from any type of surgery. Everyone has different tolerances to pain. Speak with your surgeon who will most likely provide you with a prescription to minimize your postoperative pain. READ MORE

  • MRI Results

Yes, that is possible. Depending on the injury, some can be difficult to see. What was the orthopedist's diagnosis? READ MORE

  • How can I treat swollen ankle?

The treatment is based on the diagnosis. Is the problem caused by venous insufficiency (bad valves in veins), some type of fracture or sprain, arthritis, lymphedema, etc.? Once I know that, I can provide you with some treatment tips. READ MORE

  • What should I do for ankle pain after running?

In order to answer that, I would have to know the cause of the ankle pain. Is it a muscle problem, a nerve issue or excessive pronation. READ MORE

  • What can I do for ankle pain?

There are many things that can cause ankle pain including nerves, tendons, muscles, and bone. Without a diagnosis, no one can tell you how to resolve the pain. READ MORE

That is a decision that is made together by you, your surgeon and the anesthesiologist based on your preference and overall health. READ MORE

  • Foot pain?

You need to be more specific exactly where the pain is in your foot before I can begin to address your question. There are dozen of causes of foot pain when one walks. From the picture, your foot looks swollen also around the red ankles. READ MORE

  • Is an ankle brace good for a sprained ankle?

Yes it provides extra support while the ligament is healing. READ MORE

  • Is local anesthesia used for ankle surgery?

It depends on what is being done. For removal of a superficial mass it can be done. On the other hand, it would not be the best choice for an ankle replacement. READ MORE
