Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Arthi Sanjeevi, who serves the population of Florida. Dr. Arthi Sanjeevi is a highly respected and experienced physician. Her career in medicine began when she graduated with her Medical Degree from the Madras Medical College in India. After medical school, Dr. Sanjeevi completed her internship with the Madras Medical College and Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, in Chennai, India, followed by her Family Medicine residency with University of Nebraska Medical Center. Driven to further her expertise and knowledge, she undertook her Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and her Advanced Endoscopy fellowship at the University of Minnesota Hospital. Dr. Sanjeevi is certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and has dedicated her life to delivering compassionate care. She is determined to enhance her patients’ quality of life, providing high quality, individualized care in order to ensure the most optimal results. With a passion for her work, Dr. Sanjeevi is noted for her expertise in Pancreaticobiliary Disorders, GI Oncology, GI Motility, and Small Bowel Pathology. Dr. Sanjeevi keeps current with the newest developments, guidelines, and procedures in her field by remaining a distinguished member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Florida Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, and Florida Gastroenterology Society. Gastroenterology is the study of the normal function and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver. It involves a detailed understanding of the normal action (physiology) of the gastrointestinal organs including the movement of material through the stomach and intestine (motility), the digestion and absorption of nutrients into the body, removal of waste from the system, and the function of the liver as a digestive organ. It includes common and important conditions such as colon polyps and cancer, hepatitis, gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn), peptic ulcer disease, colitis, gallbladder and biliary tract disease, nutritional problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and pancreatitis. In essence, all normal activity and disease of the digestive organs are part of the study of Gastroenterology.
