How soon can you get water in your eye after cataract surgery?
I assume you are asking about whether you can swim and are there a risk of water into the eyes. Generally it is felt that healing after cataract surgery takes about 3 weeks so any time after that should be OK. I do recommend that you wear goggles for that. The small amount of water entering the eye when washing your face should not be a problem even earlier after surgery. READ MORE
Does eyesight get better with wearing glasses?
Will wearing proper corrective lenses stabilize or even improve underlying vision? No! The eyes will retain normal changes and visual growth whether or not eyeglasses are worn. Will vision worsen when wearing eyeglasses? In younger folks under age 30 or so, the need for stronger lenses commonly occurs so wearing glasses does not affect this. So wear your eyeglasses to see better- not for any effect on visual capacity down the road. READ MORE
How do you deal with contact lens pain?
Contact lenses work because when fitted well, they are pain free. Yours are either too tight not allowing proper lubrication of tears for the lens to float upon, or there is some pathology of the cornea (the clear window at the front of the eye upon which the lenses reside). You could have an abnormal cornea or an on-going disease that needs to be treated or too low a tear flow to support a lens properly. You could go back to the initial person who fit the lens to address these issues or perhaps seek a second opinion with an ophthalmologist who is a more comprehensive physician who can understand and help you. Cataract surgery becomes a tiny bit more difficult and risky if you wait too long before having it done. That is all relative and it depends upon the extent of the cataract before you wait.
