How dangerous is a blood clot in the leg?

Usually, it's the opposite. I would just continue with compressions and see a vascular specialist if it is bothersome. READ MORE
Do medicines help in treating varicose veins?
Sorry. There are no medications that I'm aware of to help this. She should wear compression stockings which may prevent them from getting worse. The surgical procedures are very low risk and mostly office-based so she shouldn't be nervous about them. READ MORE

Why have I recently been having leg pain only when lying down but not when standing?
It's unlikely to be any vascular issue given your young age. Sounds more like a musculoskeletal issue. Check with your medical doctor and they can refer you to an orthopedic specialist for evaluation. READ MORE
How are blood clots in the veins diagnosed?
You will need an ultrasound (venous duplex) to determine whether there is a blood clot or not. Physical exam can aid in suspicion of a clot, but ultrasound will be needed for diagnosis. READ MORE
Is there a possibility of a patient suffering a heart attack during a vascular surgery?
There is a very, very small risk of having a heart attack, but it also depends on the procedure performed. In my 8,000 or so operations I've had, maybe only a handful have a heart attack and maybe 1-2 that were fatal. In the last 4-5 years I cannot recall anyone having a major heart attack in an elective operation. Good luck. READ MORE

Blood test results?
I don't think anything stands out to me. If you have unexplained bruising, you might want to see a hematologist. There is always a chance of some platelet dysfunction or also possibility of a side effect of one of the medications you are on. READ MORE
What could have triggered varicose veins during my pregnancy?
The larger size of the uterus and hormonal changes likely contributed to it. Usually things get better after you have had the baby. If they persist, then you can consider seeing a vascular specialist. READ MORE
Can a bypass surgery cause kidney problems?
I'm assuming he had bypass in his legs to answer this question. It's unlikely the bypass caused his kidney problems. He likely had underlying kidney disease and it's just gotten worse. READ MORE
What are the symptoms of a blood clot?
Usual symptoms are leg swelling and pain. The leg could also feel tight, heavy, and look reddish in color. The discomfort would unlikely resolve in a day. READ MORE
What is a venogram?
A venogram is a procedure where a needle/catheter is inserted into the vein and fluoroscopy is performed with dye to look at the flow or anatomy. It's a useful diagnostic modality and treatment can also be performed at the same time. I wouldn't consider in painful. I tell my patients it may feel like a blood draw and once the catheter is in usually you shouldn't feel anything more. We also use local medication to numb the area prior to accessing the vein so it's more comfortable. I think your 5-year-old should be okay with it. Post-procedure, there should be very minimal discomfort. Hope this helps. READ MORE
Varicose vein on ribs and stomach?
Hi, Your body compensating for some venous issue most likely in the abdomen. You need someone to examine you and to get a good history. If you drink a lot, then there is a possibility that you may some liver condition leading to this also. I would recommend seeing your medical doctor first and then take it from there. Good luck.
