Are posture correctors worth it?
This is a great question. Improving your posture absolutely has it's benefits. Improved posture often leads to less discomfort, less muscle tension, increased focus and attention as well as increased lung capacity and increased oxygen to the brain. I typically recommend more active and sustainable methods to improve posture rather than passive methods such as posture correctors. The methods I recommend are Chiropractic adjustments to improve joint position and decrease muscle tension, massage and stretching to decrease muscle tension and stabilization or postural exercises to improve muscle function. What helps upper back pain?
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing upper back pain. What is effective in the treatment of upper back pain depends on what the cause is. One of the most common causes I see in my practice is poor posture. If poor posture is the cause a few things that can be helpful include Chiropractic adjustments which improve joint movement and alignment and reset postural muscles. Stabilization exercises and stretches can also be helpful. Another thing that I recommend to my patient's is increased awareness of their posture and paying attention to how their body feels when they have poor posture and when they have good posture. Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. A chiropractor uses spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, including neck pain, back pain, headaches, vertigo and a long list of other ailments and conditions. They aim to improve patients’ functionality and quality of life by properly aligning the body’s musculoskeletal structure and enabling the body to heal itself naturally, without the use of medication or surgery.
Outside of the office, Dr. Andrade enjoys hiking, running, camping, and traveling. Her favorite place to vacation is anywhere by the beach.
