Ariel Jurmann, MD, an Anesthesiologist with Northwell Health

Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Ariel Jurmann, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

As a board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Jurmann collaborates with the Northwell Health system. Namely, he is affiliated with Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, and North Shore University Hospital.

Long Island Jewish Medical Center is a 583-bed, non-profit tertiary care teaching hospital serving the greater New York metropolitan area. It focuses on the complete care of every patient, with a compassionate and collaborative approach to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Long Island Jewish Valley Stream is a 284 licensed-bed, full-service community hospital caring for patients in Nassau County and southeastern Queens. It is a division of Long Island Jewish Medical Center. 

North Shore University Hospital is a teaching hospital for the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, offering residency programs, postgraduate training programs, and clinical fellowships to educate the clinicians of the future. In the early days of his academic career, Dr. Jurmann graduated with his medical degree from the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University in 1998. He then went on to perform his residency in general surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital in 2001, followed by his residency in anesthesiology at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine in 2005.

Thriving in his field, he is board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), whose mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.
