Dr. Lakhani is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist who serves as the Director of Integrative Oncology at AMITA Health Cancer Institute Hinsdale in Illinois. Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of cancer patients, where she approaches each patient with a team of doctors to provide multidisciplinary care. Her mission is to provide cancer patients with state-of-the-art treatments while incorporating evidence-based complementary and alternative methods.
“I firmly believe that lifestyle – the quality of our diet, activity level, and stress management – impacts the level of inflammation in our body and thus can be optimized to improve overall health. The missing link to cancer treatment is cancer prevention. My goal is to evolve the current paradigm of ‘sick-care’ into improved and more effective ‘health-care’” as stated by the doctor.
In affiliation with Amita Health, her clinic is located at the AMITA Cancer Institute and collaborates with AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale and AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center La Grange.
Following the completion of her medical degree from Rush Medical College, Dr. Lakhani went on to complete her residency at Rush University Medical Center, followed by her fellowship with the Loyola University Health System. She also completed an additional fellowship at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine of the University of Arizona.
Subsequent to her training, she earned board certification in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Serving as Secretary of the Board of Directors at Better Every Day, Dr. Lakhani is also a member of the Society of Integrative Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology. She has published numerous articles in the fields of hematology and oncology, and is dedicated to caring for patients with complex malignancies.
