Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Javier Reyna, who serves patients in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Recognized as a skillful cardiologist, Dr. Reyna provides all kinds of cardiology-related services and more to patients at his private practice in Miami Gardens, Florida. He is also affiliated with nearby hospitals, including Hialeah Hospital and Palmetto General Hospital, and teaches medicine at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Reyna completed his medical education at the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba, where he was born. He then continued his training (residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiovascular disease) in the United States at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami. 

With years of experience in the field of cardiology, the doctor is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. He is also board-certified in adult echocardiogram by the National Board of Echocardiography and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. 

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

In addition to being a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians, Dr. Reyna is a part of the team at Sweet Hope Research Inc. He has been published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Disease, as well as has been named a recipient of the Paul J. Furlong Award in Internal Medicine.

Outside of practicing medicine, his interests are reading, teaching, traveling, and watching sports. In addition to English, he speaks Spanish.
