Dr. Oppenheim is affiliated with Saint Barnabas Medical Center, a member of Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health. It is a 577-bed non-profit major teaching hospital located in Livingston, New Jersey.
In the early days of his academic career, Dr. Oppenheim graduated with his medical degree from Rush Medical College, Chicago in 1977. He then went on to perform his internship in surgery and residency in orthopaedic surgery at NYU Medical Center and / Bellevue Hospital Center, New York. Wanting to further his training, he completed his fellowship at McGill University in Canada. Dr. Oppenheim also completed a residency in Plastic Surgery at Baylor University, Houston Texas in 1983. The purpose of this additional residency was to further extend and enhance his expertise in complex trauma surgery and in orthopedic reconstruction of the extremities.
With a desire to continually refine his skills and expertise, Dr. Oppenheim is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery, a member in good standing with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing excellence in the educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
