Get to know Radiation Oncologist Dr. Megan A. Mezera, who serves patients in Camden, Voorhees, and Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

Dr. Mezera is a board-certified radiation oncologist with specialized training in performing radiation treatment for people with cancer and those with certain noncancerous (benign) conditions. Her special interests include brachytherapy, gynecologic cancers, head and neck cancers, and stereotactic radiosurgery.

At MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, she sees patients at the offices in Camden, Voorhees, and Mount Laurel, New Jersey. She offers her services at: Gynecologic Cancer Center, Radiation Oncology, Women’s Cancer Program, and Head and Neck Cancer Center.

Holding an academic role, she serves as an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Mezera graduated with her medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University in 2010. She then went on to serve her internship in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center in 2011, and her residency in radiation oncology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2016.

With a focus on all aspects of cancer, she is board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The mission of the ABR is to serve patients, the public, and the medical profession by certifying that its diplomates have acquired, demonstrated, and maintained a requisite standard of knowledge, skill, and understanding essential to the safe and competent practice of diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

In order to stay up to date in her field, Dr. Mezera remains an active member of the American Society of Radiation Oncology and the American Brachytherapy Society.

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that involves the controlled use of radiation to treat cancer. It is one of the three primary specialties, the other two being surgical and medical oncology, involved in the treatment of cancer. A radiation oncologist is a specialist physician who uses ionizing radiation in the treatment of cancer.

Among Dr. Mezera’s various awards and honors include: RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award; ABS LDR Prostate Brachytherapy Scholarship; AANS/NREF/ASTRO Stereotactic Radiosurgery Course Educational Travel Grant; ABS BrachyNext Symposium Educational Travel Grant; and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
