Get to know Thoracic Surgeon Dr. Jose F. Font, who serves the population of Florida. Dr. Font graduated with his Medical Degree from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico in 1968, giving him over four decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his Medical Degree he then completed his internship with Genesys Regional Medical Center – St Joseph Campus, followed by his general surgery residency with Henry Ford Hospital – Wayne State University. Wanting to further his training he then completed his Thoracic Surgery fellowship with the same institute. Dr. Font is dual certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. To stay up to date in his field he remains a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Font currently practices with Zequeira & Font Thoracic Surgery Associates and is affiliated with Hialeah Hospital, Palm Springs General Hospital, and Palmetto General Hospital. He holds an expertise in Vascular and Thoracic Surgery. Thoracic surgery focuses on the chest organs, including the heart, lungs, esophagus, and trachea. Technological advances have increased the safety and availability of these complex surgical procedures.
