  • What does tooth sensitivity mean after a root canal?

The tooth and ligament surrounding the tooth have been traumatized and require time to heal. Usually a month after treatment is completed the tooth will feel perfectly normal again. If not, please call dentist who performed the root canal to have tooth reevaluated. READ MORE

  • How long should you wait to eat after brushing your teeth?

You may brush and floss immediately following your meal or may wait a few hours if it is not convenient to do so at that time. I believe it is more important to clean your teeth thoroughly and the timing is what works for you. READ MORE

  • Can surrounding teeth hurt after an extraction?

Yes, you may feel tenderness on teeth surrounding an extraction. If it lingers, please return to your dentist. Sometimes more than 1 tooth is having a problem but might have gone unnoticed because the one tooth that was extracted was an obvious problem. READ MORE

  • What is the best medication for an abscess tooth?

Many antibiotics will help temporarily but do not treat the true problem. You need a dentist to diagnose and treat the diseased tooth. READ MORE

  • How many dental implants can be done in one day?

You are not limited to a number of implants on a given day of treatment. Your dentist, though may want to treat a particular side or quadrant of the mouth for many reasons. Conversely, your dentist may prefer to place all 4 at one time. Please inquire about how many and why your particular dentist has planned your case the way they did. READ MORE

  • Can you get a cavity under a crown?

  • Is it time for new dentures?

I always recommend patients have a spare set of dentures in case one set becomes lost or broken. Having said that sometimes a new set is needed, sometimes a reline may be done to tighten the dentures. A reline is a procedure done in the dentist office or sent to a dental lab. The dentist would take an impression of your mouth with your denture and fill in any spaces to refit the denture. Usually the cost for this procedure is significantly less than the cost of a new denture. READ MORE

  • What can I do about my yellow teeth?

Not everyone has naturally bright white teeth. How your teeth formed, how thick the enamel is, medications taken as a child might effect how your teeth developed and look now. Ask your dentist about bleaching and porcelain veneers. One of these options may give you the beautiful smile you desire. READ MORE

  • How do you make gingivitis go away?

Gingivitis is inflammation of the "gums." Often a good dental cleaning followed by excellent oral hygiene habits will completely reverse the problem. READ MORE

  • What do you do if your crown falls off your tooth?

Please return to your dentist as soon as possible. You may need a simple recement. But the longer you wait the more likely you will need a more expensive and time consuming treatment. READ MORE

  • Do crowns on front teeth look natural?

Crowns done well can look absolutely beautiful and blend with other teeth. READ MORE

  • Can a tooth with a crown hurt?

A crowned tooth should not hurt. Teeth are crowned often due to caries or a fracture. The nerve and blood supply within the tooth may be damaged causing pain. If this occurs usually a "root canal" is performed which removes the infected tissue and eliminates pain. Not all crowned teeth require root canal therapy. Often teeth may be crowned without it and remain pain free. READ MORE
