  • Can liver cancer be treated with interventional radiology?

    There are many treatment options offered by Interventional Radiology for liver cancer. Ablation, radioembolization and/or chemoembolization may be appropriate depending upon the size, location and number of tumors in the liver. These are all minimally invasive options commonly utilized for the treatment of liver cancer. With ablation a needle is placed into the tumor and the tumor is burned away. Radio and chemo embolization both involve placing a catheter into the arteries supplying the tumor and delivering very small beads coated with radiation or chemotherapy directly into the tumor.
