Born in Queens, New York to very loving parents, Dr. Singh began musical training at the age of 5. While in high school, she was inspired by her father, a psychiatrist, and wanted to be a doctor like him. At the age of 18, she was accepted into a 7-year medical program at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. She was also asked to tour in India with a famous Bollywood singer and to sign a 3-year contract. This was a crossroad in her life, and as much as she had a passion for singing, her family encouraged her to complete her education. She decided to go into the 7-year program and graduated in 2005 as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. She became a full-fledged attending physician in 2010 after completing an internship at St. Vincent’s Midtown Hospital and a residency at Richmond University Medical Center.  Along with completing her studies, She never stopped singing!

It was as a resident physician that she started working on her first music album in India, which was released in 2009. Dr. Singh went on to work at Orange Regional Medical Center (now Garnet Health Medical Center).  She continues  to also sing in bollywood, and performs and travels often.

Developing further interest in the mental health field, she is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (AOBPN). The AOBPN is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) who specialize in disorders of the nervous system (neurologists) and to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders (psychiatrists.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

As she continues to grow in her professional career, Dr. Singh has made music a priority and visits India every 2-3 months. She performs professionally, records, and has released multiple singles and albums. She got married in 2014 and has two children, a son and a daughter.

Although she is busy, she feels blessed because she has so many people around her who are a support system and could not be where she is without them. It is the quest for knowledge, along with the love to heal, whether it be in medicine or music, which keeps her going. It is also the art of balance that she had to learn over time which has helped.
