Being a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, Dr. Lee is well-versed in the latest corneal transplant techniques, including DALK, DMEK, and DSEK. The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
In regards to the doctor’s educational background, he earned his medical degree from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, graduating as part of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then went on to complete his internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
In 2009, he came to Sacramento for his residency in ophthalmology at UC Davis Eye Center, and then moved to Chicago to complete his fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Lee chose to specialize in cornea and refractive surgery because he enjoys challenging cases, and is able to handle complex anterior segment surgery.
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. In his personal life, Dr. Lee enjoys living in Sacramento with his wife and two young daughters. In addition to English, he speaks Korean and Spanish. He has a strong interest in automobiles and has run his car on many race tracks in California. He also enjoys NBA basketball and served as the team ophthalmologist for the Sacramento Kings from 2014 until 2016.
