Get to know Pediatric Anesthesiologist Dr. Dominique Aimee Jean, who serves patients in New York, New York.

Dr. Jean is a dual board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist, physician speaker, and creative entrepreneur based in New York. Her eclectic background has led her to transform her passion project into an official nonprofit charity, the Haute Healing Foundation, where she serves as President.

Established in 2017, the mission of the Haute Healing Foundation is to bring the gift of hope, self confidence, and well-being to chronically ill, terminally ill, homeless or disadvantaged children and young adults (including LGBTQIA youth) by providing them with full beauty and grooming services and pampering products, makeovers, and professional photoshoots. All of this is done with the assistance of volunteer professional wardrobe stylists, hair stylists, makeup artists, nail artists, and fashion photographers.

In her journey to become a physician, Dr. Jean always knew that she would not lead a traditional path into the medical field. Throughout her education and medical career, she strove to add balance to her life and had aspirations seemingly unrelated to the typical path of a doctor.

After graduating with her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2005, she went on to complete her fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Following her training, she decided to pursue her passion in the fashion industry as a stylist. Her meticulous dedication to creating a balanced and eclectic life led her to a dual career as a wardrobe & personal stylist with over 5 years of experience, and as a pediatric anesthesiologist with over a decade of experience. As a result, participating in these two vastly different interests led Dr. Jean to create her own charity – Haute Healing Foundation.

Her primary passion is to educate and inspire medical students and physicians alike through speeches and workshops focusing on her Script for Style, Haute Mentality, and the Power of the Pivot. As a stylist, she also leads corporate Style & Substance workshops as her background as a physician serves as an advantage in styling people for professional work environments.

Recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jean wanted to give gifts to her fellow physician friends working on the front lines. What started as gifts turned into the Script For Style Candle Company.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Pediatric anesthesiologists are specialists who help manage the medical care of a child before, during, and after surgery. They make sure the child is properly anesthetized (unconscious), if necessary, and continue to monitor vital signs throughout the procedure. Pediatric anesthesiologists also work to prevent and manage any pain during a procedure. They play a key role in deciding when a child is ready to go home or can be moved to a recovery area.

A member of the Personal Style Society and the School of Style Style Society, Dr. Jean is a Board Member of the Troublemaker Foundation, which was created under the premise that each individual has within himself or herself the power of self-determination. In addition, she is a member of Konbit Pou Potapiman, which promotes civic, social, educational, and health programs that benefit the community of Port-à-Piment, a small town in Southwest Haiti.

On a more personal note, she speaks several languages, including English, Spanish, and French.
