Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Byron S. Cooper, who serves patients in Washington, D.C.  

Dr. Cooper is a pulmonologist serving Washington, DC and the surrounding communities. He is affiliated with Priva Medical Group which is a multi-specialty, high-performance medical group that puts patients first. Their physicians are united by the mission of providing better, more coordinated care for their patients.   

In 1973, Dr. Cooper attended Washington University School of Medicine and earned his medical degree. He went on to complete an internship and residency at Bellevue Hospital Center and a fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. 

Dr. Cooper maintains professional memberships with the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Thoracic Society, the District of Columbia Thoracic Society, and the Medical Society of the District of Columbia. 

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. As a pulmonologist, Dr. Cooper manages patients who need life support and mechanical ventilation and is specially trained in diseases and conditions of the chest, particularly pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis, emphysema, and complicated chest infections. 

With over 45 years of experience in the field, Dr. Cooper has treated thousands of patients.
