Dr. Leonard, a reputable cardiologist, maintains a very busy, active private practice in interventional cardiology. He is the Managing Partner & Chief Operating Officer of Advanced Heart Care, seeing patients at the offices in Plano, Keller, and Decatur, Texas.
For more than two decades, Advanced Heart Care has been advancing its mission to provide the best, most advanced cardiovascular services available to small and under-served communities in North Texas and Southeast Oklahoma. Founded in 1997 as a solo practice in Dallas (with outreach clinics in Paris and Decatur), Advanced Heart Care has quickly spread its philosophy of treating each patient throughout the region with the utmost respect and compassion. The network is now composed of nine offices staffed by thirteen physicians and five nurse practitioners, all working to advance the mission.
With a busy hospital practice, Dr. Leonard performs diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and complex percutaneous coronary interventions at Wise Health System in Decatur where he serves as the Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Services.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), he is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
After graduating magna cum laude from Princeton University, Dr. Leonard attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and remained at Parkland Memorial Hospital for his internship and residency in internal medicine. He then remained at Parkland for an extra year to serve as Chief Medical Resident, and obtained his fellowship in cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
In his professional experience, Dr. Leonard was formerly Director of the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Plano. He served as the Chief Medical Officer and Vice-President for Medical Affairs at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano from its opening in January of 2007 until 2011, and also served as the Chief Medical Officer and Vice-President for Medical Affairs at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Plano from 2010 until 2012.
Dr. Leonard was the 2010 recipient of the Hunt Scholarship to attend Southern Methodist University-Cox School of Business where he received his Master of Business Administration degree in May of 2012.

The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology.
