Dr. Wolf is a board-certified UCI Health surgical oncologist who specializes in treating liver, bile duct and pancreatic cancer. He sees patients at UCI Health H.H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center in Orange, and at UCI Health Digestive Disease Center — Newport in Costa Mesa.

The doctor’s clinical interests include pancreatic adenocarcinoma, colon and rectal cancers that have metastasized to the liver, surgical treatment for bile duct tumors and cysts, as well as surgery for soft tissue sarcoma. He is a committee member of several national organizations involved in clinical trials, offering expanded treatment options for UCI Health patients.

In regards to his educational background, he earned his medical degree from the Oregon Health & Science University, followed by an internship and two residencies in general surgery at UC Davis. He then completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he also served as a clinical research fellow. Later, he helped direct surgical resident and fellowship-level postgraduate training programs in Portland, Oregon.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in surgical oncology and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Teaching students, Dr. Wolf serves as a Professor for the Department of Surgery, Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Surgery at the UC Irvine School of Medicine.

Surgical oncology is the branch of surgery applied to oncology. It focuses on the surgical management of tumors, especially cancerous tumors. A surgical oncologist removes the tumor and nearby tissue during surgery. He or she also performs certain types of biopsies to help diagnose cancer.
