Get to know Radiologist Dr. Robert Pope, who serves patients in Lexington, Kentucky.

Dr. Pope is a MSK fellowship-trained, board-certified radiologist with years of clinical experience. He is currently a part of the team of professionals at Central Kentucky Radiology, PLLC in Lexington, Kentucky. 

Proficient in MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound and nuclear medicine, he is comfortable performing general interventional procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, arthrograms, lumbar punctures, and image-guided biopsies. He is also experienced in epidural steroid and facet injections.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Pope graduated with his high school diploma from Henry Clay High School in 1994. He then went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Kentucky in 1998, followed by his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003.

Furthering his training, he performed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Michigan State University in 2008. He then completed his fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at VCU/Medical College of Virginia in 2012.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in diagnostic radiology and musculoskeletal radiology through the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology (AOBR). The AOBR is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of imaging in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Currently licensed in Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee and Michigan, Dr. Pope is an active member of the American Osteopathic College of Radiology.

Radiology is a branch of medicine that uses imaging technology to diagnose and treat disease. Radiology may be divided into two different areas, diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology. Doctors who specialize in radiology are called radiologists.
