Dr. Revesz is a highly-skilled, board-certified and fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant and benign breast disease, as well as high-risk cancer situations, including biopsies, axillary dissections, and mastectomies. Her passion lies in offering her patients the best options in treating breast disease. She also works closely with plastic surgeons for immediate reconstruction efforts after mastectomies.
At present, Dr. Revesz practices at Virtua Breast Care -Voorhees. Located in New Jersey, Virtua Breast Care – Voorhees specializes in the latest surgical techniques for women with breast cancer, including minimally invasive lumpectomy, mastectomy, and skin-sparing procedures with reconstruction at the same time as a mastectomy. The physicians of this specialized surgical practice are Virtua Cancer Program breast surgeons and deal exclusively in the treatment of breasts. They offer complete surgical and diagnostic services for patients ages 12 and up who may have breast cancer, lesions, cysts, or lymph node enlargement.
With a unique background as an artist and sculptor, Dr. Revesz was able to translate her precision, and her ability to see things in three dimensions, into a highly successful career in medicine. After earning her medical degree from Rush University Medical College, she completed a five-year residency in general surgery at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago. She then went on to complete a fellowship in breast surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Lynn Sage Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dedicated to her profession, she has authored numerous articles and conducted research on various breast cancer topics, which she has presented to her peers and organizations nationwide.
Breast cancer surgery is a key component of breast cancer treatment that involves removing the cancer with an operation. There are 2 basic types of surgery to remove breast cancer: lumpectomy, also called breast-conserving surgery, partial mastectomy or wide excision, and mastectomy. They may be used alone or in combination with other treatments, such as chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, and radiation therapy.
Breast surgical oncologists specialize in the treatment of breast cancer using various surgical techniques depending on each patient’s condition. As such, Dr. Revesz advises patients to educate themselves before making treatment decisions and lets them know that she is with them and their families every step of the way through treatment. She is available to see patients at her office location in Voorhees in South New Jersey and performs her surgeries at the Virtua Voorhees Hospital and Summit Surgery Center.
Looking ahead, Dr. Revesz and Virtua are pursuing additional accreditations in hidden scar and oncoplastic programs. They are also going to move to seed localization and away from wire localization, as the practice feels that it is much more comfortable for patients while still effectively helping surgeons locate the tumor to be removed. They are even launching into specialty areas such as treatment of breast-feeding complications to provide a well-rounded approach to breast care.
