As a board certified pediatrician, Dr. York focuses on caring for the health of infants, children, and adolescents. She serves Harvey, Louisiana and the surrounding communities at DePaul Community Health Center – Harvey.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the Harvey Health Center location from her extensive career in the medical field, Dr. York ran her own practice for a little more than 12 years and is the former Vice-Chair of Pediatrics at the West Jefferson Medical Center.

As a strong believer in parental education, she emphasizes the importance of empowering her patients’ families to make informed decisions and fully understand their children’s health issues.

In regards to her educational background, Dr. York graduated from the University of Georgia with honors and went on to earn a Master of Public Health Degree in Tropical Medicine from Tulane University. Later, she attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where she graduated with her Medical Degree in 2003. 

Subsequently, she completed a pediatric internship and residency at Tulane-Ochsner, where she received training in both the trauma and PICU departments.

Board certified in pediatrics, Dr. York is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
