Get to know Family Physician Dr. James E. Southerland, who serves patients in Eatonton, Georgia.

A trusted family physician with over 34 years of experience, Dr. Southerland is in practice at Lake Oconee Regional Primary & Urgent Care Center in Eatonton, Georgia.

Lake Oconee Regional Primary & Urgent Care Center is a comprehensive primary care center offering laboratory and x-ray services, seven day a week service, as well as extended evening and weekend office hours. They are dedicated to providing patients with the most advanced care available.

Beginning his professional pursuits at the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine, Dr. Southerland went on to further his training by completing a residency in family medicine at the Floyd Medical Center.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. 

Over the years, Dr. Southerland has perfected his skills as not only a physician, but serving as a medical director as well. He has invested his time in being actively involved with the Preceptorship Program at Mercer Medical School located in Macon, Georgia, as well as with the Physician’s Assistant Program at Emory School of Medicine located in Atlanta, Georgia. For 20 years, he served as a Board Member of the GC Health Department.
