Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Long B. Nguyen, who serves patients throughout the State of Georgia.
A skilled gastroenterologist, Dr. Nguyen is affiliated with Digestive Care Physicians, LLC, providing care to patients in Forsyth, Fulton and Gwinnett counties. He specializes in taking care of patients with various gastrointestinal and liver diseases, including intestinal bleeding, hepatitis B and C, liver cancer, cirrhosis and associated complications. He also has extensive training in advanced endoscopic techniques for early detection of esophageal, gastric, colon and rectal cancers, and treatment of Barrett’s esophagus – a condition that could lead to cancer of the esophagus.
To boot, he has completed training in ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) procedures for management of benign and malignant conditions of the bile ducts and pancreas, and in endoscopic placement of stents for the esophagus, duodenum and colon for patients with benign or malignant conditions. He also performs balloon small bowel enteroscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of conditions in the small intestine.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Nguyen completed undergraduate studies at Syracuse University, and earned a Master’s degree at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute and the Graduate School of the University at Buffalo – State University of New York. After he had graduated with honors from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004, he completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Connecticut Health Center School of Medicine. He served as Co-Chief Fellow during his last year of training, coordinating academic training activities for junior fellows.
Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the Vietnamese American Medical Association.
Professionally, Dr. Nguyen is on the medical staff with Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Gwinnett Medical Center and Northside Forsyth Hospital. In the past, he served as the Southeast US Regional Director for the National Task Force for Hepatitis B: Focus on Asian and Pacific Islander Americans from 2014-2016. He is also the President of the Vietnamese American Healthcare Professionals Association of Georgia.
