Board-Certified Psychiatrist Continues to Make Strides in Promoting Mental Wellness

Dr. Kiana Andrew Tregre an experienced child, adolescent, and adult forensic psychiatrist, is making significant contributions to the field of mental health. Her expertise extends to women’s mental health in forensic settings, juvenile competency, juvenile delinquency alternatives, anxiety disorders in teens, and adolescent forensic evaluations.

Currently, Dr. Tregre holds the esteemed position of Director of the Women’s Unit at the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health Systems. She also provides crucial clinical care to children and adolescents at the Metropolitan Human Services District of Louisiana in New Orleans, serves as a consulting psychiatrist at the Rivarde Juvenile Detention Center in Jefferson Parish, and holds the title of Assistant Professor in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in the Department of Forensic Psychiatry at Tulane School of Medicine. Her affiliations extend to include Children’s Hospital New Orleans and Tulane Medical Center.

A highly accomplished academic, Dr. Tregre graduated from the University of Florida, Class of 2000, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English (Literatures of the African Diaspora) and a minor in Zoology. Her academic journey continued with a Master of Public Health Degree from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2002.

In 2011, Dr. Tregre earned her Medical Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of South Alabama from 2011 to 2014. She then pursued fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina and forensic psychiatry at Tulane School of Medicine, culminating in 2017.

As a testament to her expertise and dedication, Dr. Tregre is double board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry and forensic psychiatry, holding the prestigious title of Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Her commitment to advancing mental health, particularly in vulnerable populations, continues to drive her impactful work in the field of psychiatry.
