Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Shervin Oskouei, who serves patients in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Oskouei stands as a distinguished figure in the field of orthopedic surgery, bringing expertise, innovation, and compassion to his practice at Emory Healthcare since 2004.

As one of only four fellowship-trained orthopedic oncologists in Georgia, he leads the charge in addressing musculoskeletal tumors with precision and expertise. Collaborating with the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, his team is at the forefront of establishing a comprehensive database of sarcomas and exploring novel therapeutic approaches to combat these challenging conditions. 

Beyond his work in orthopedic oncology, Dr. Oskouei is renowned regionally and nationally as an expert in primary and revision total knee and total hip replacement surgery. Utilizing the most advanced, patient-centered treatment modalities available, he ensures that each patient receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs. His expertise extends to partial joint replacements, where he employs the latest, technologically-advanced procedures, including surgically-implanted stem cell therapy.

Back in the early days of his academic career, his medical journey began at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he obtained his medical degree before completing his internship and residency at Emory University School of Medicine. He further honed his skills through a fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center, solidifying his expertise in orthopedic surgery.

As a testament to his success, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

An authority in his field, Dr. Oskouei’s contributions to orthopedic surgery have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his receipt of prestigious awards such as the Marmor Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery and the Administrative Excellent Resident Teaching Award. He is also a recipient of the Medical College of Georgia Dean’s Research Scholarship and an alumni member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Consistently recognized as one of Atlanta’s “Top Doctors” by Atlanta Magazine, his impact extends far beyond the operating room.
