The doctor’s first medical practice was as a volunteer in a remote community in rural North Carolina “tobacco country” where he was the “town doctor.” He later moved to become one of the first partners in the opening of Kaiser Permanente in North Carolina. He helped build that practice to a membership of 35,000 served by a Permanente medical group of over 30 primary care and specialty care physicians. As a vice president for the region, he helped lead development of new outpatient practice design and win awards for patient service.
After moving to Northern Virginia to consult on the development of medical computer software, he returned to practicing medicine with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in 2001. He has been practicing medicine in Kensington since 2016.
