Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Elizabeth B. Spannhake, who serves patients in Maryland.

Having been in private practice for over 25 years, Dr. Spannhake specializes in orthodontics for children, teens, and adults at Spannhake Orthodontics.

With two orthodontic offices located in Towson and Westminster, Maryland, Spannhake Orthodontics provides orthodontic treatment to many surrounding communities, including Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Yorktown, Alto Vista, Hampton, and Frederick County.

Committed to providing patients with the latest orthodontic techniques while delivering the utmost in personal care, Dr. Spannhake works with patients to obtain a healthy and beautiful smile, taking oral and facial harmony into consideration. Her goal is to provide consistently excellent orthodontic treatment to children, adolescents, and adults in a gentle and caring environment.

Relating to her academic journey, Dr. Spannhake holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, as well as a Master of Public Health degree from Tulane University.

Furthering her dental education, she graduated with multiple honors from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry and completed a two-year orthodontic graduate program at the University of Maryland School of Dental Surgery. 

A recognition by her peers of clinical and didactic excellence in orthodontics, Dr. Spannhake is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Being advanced in the field, she has served as President of the State and Mid-Atlantic Regional Orthodontic Societies. She is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Maryland State Dental Association.

Actively involved in the orthodontic profession outside of her own practice, Dr. Spannhake is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the Temple University Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia and teaches in their graduate program on a bi-weekly basis throughout the year.

Moreover, she has been a consulting member of the Kernan Hospital Cleft Palate Advisory Team, which provides information and guidance to patients and their families seeking treatment for their cleft palates and craniofacial anomalies.

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws.
