Get to know Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Dr. Dhanalakshmi Ramasamy, who serves patients in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Ramasamy is a top child and adolescent psychiatrist who is affiliated with Lehigh Valley Physician Group. More specifically, she tends to patients at LVPG Adult and Pediatric Psychiatry-1259 Cedar Crest (Allentown) & LVPG-MHC IP Psychiatry (Bethlehem) in Pennsylvania.

At both locations, she evaluates, treats, and manages the behavioral and mental health issues that children and teens face. Whether it is counseling during a stressful time in one’s life or treating a lifelong condition that requires medication, or anything in between, she strives to improve both physical health and overall well-being.

After graduating with her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Coimbatore Medical College in India in 1995, Dr. Ramasamy relocated to the United States. Once there, she served her residency in psychiatry at Temple University Hospital, and her fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine.

Subsequent to her training, the doctor became board-certified in psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Among her most significant accomplishments, Dr. Ramasamy has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DFAPA) and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (DFAACAP).

Child and adolescent psychiatry, also known as pediatric psychiatry, is a branch of psychiatry that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders in children, adolescents, and their families. A child and adolescent psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of thinking, feeling, as well as behavior affecting children, adolescents, and their families.
