A highly trained oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Traub is the Founder of Dr. Steven J. Traub Albuquerque Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. His areas of specialization include removal of wisdom teeth, extractions on patients of all ages, dental implant placement, jaw pathology, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, as well as facial trauma and reconstruction.

Engaged in private practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Traub’s practice is limited to dento-alveolar, pre-prosthetic, implant, temporomandibular joint, pathology, and facial trauma and reconstructive surgery. His primary practice interests are facial traumatic injuries, maxillofacial reconstruction including jaw implants, and temporomandibular joint surgery. Same are followed by reconstructive surgery for edentulous or post-surgical cancer patients including: soft tissue grafting, hard tissue grafting, and osseointegrated implants. As well, his practice includes a strong emphasis on care of patients with mental and physical handicaps and deformities. 

Aside from his office practice, Dr. Traub is on staff at all Lovelace medical facilities, including ​Lovelace Women’s Hospital, ​Lovelace West Mesa Hospital, and Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital. He is also on the Credentials and Peer Review committees at Lovelace Medical Center.

An Albuquerque native, Dr. Traub is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and the Creighton University School of Dentistry. He completed his residency in oral & maxillofacial surgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and returned to Albuquerque in 1981 whereupon he started his private practice. 

Specializing in oral and maxillofacial surgery, he is a Life Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. 

A Fellow and on the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Oral Biology, he is also a member of numerous other professional societies and organizations, including the American Dental Association, the New Mexico Dental Association, the Albuquerque District Dental Society, the New Mexico Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Academy of Injury Medicine, and the ​International Society of Plastic, Aesthetic, & Reconstructive Surgery (Fellow).
