Returning to Summa Akron City Hospital, Dr. Ahmed established the first medical simulation fellowship in Ohio, where he developed a nationally recognized simulation program over nine years. His innovative contributions include graduating ten simulation fellows, consulting for NASA on simulation projects, and co-developing a novel transvenous pacemaker simulator.
Recognized for his excellence in teaching, he has received numerous accolades, including the Donald O'Hara Teaching Award at Harvard Medical School in 2009, the Emergency Medicine Residency Faculty of the Year in 2010 and 2012, the 2017 ACEP National Faculty Teaching Award, and the SAEM Simulation Academy "Distinguished Educator" award in 2020. His passion lies in training emergency medicine residents to become effective team leaders, a vital skill in today’s healthcare environment.
On a more personal note, Dr. Ahmed shares his life with his wife, a pediatric palliative care physician at Riley Children’s Hospital, and their two boys.
