July 30,2018 Dear Dr. Flanagan, After waiting 6 weeks for an appointment, Today I came to your office. It was the first time to see you. Your staff gave me the wrong directions. They told me that your building was directly behind southeast Medical Center. After parking in the garage, I walked across the street and no office. So I went to doctors building. After elevator rides you weren’t there either. So I finally called your office and was told you are down 2 roads. And I found your building. I walked up to the receptionist and told her that I am from Texas and I was a new patient. And she asked if I had signed in. Then she told me to sign in and sit down. No smile. No greeting. Just under the breath. So I did and sat down. I was called to sign papers. After signing I was informed that you are no longer taking United Healthcare after Sept 01. But the staff insisted that you would have suggestions for me. So I stayed. While signing papers another client was asked to come up and sign papers next to me. I guess your staff has never heard about patient confidentiality. A man fell down outside so staff called for help. Four people ran outside. So a few minutes later I was signing papers and your receptionist was more concerned about talking to other staff members about the man outside. And I was interrupted so that she could find out about that. I then sat down and waited. And was called into the room. I waited 50 minutes in the room. Then a nurse came in and told me that there was nothing you could do for me. No work up. No medication questions. She just insisted that I leave the building and escorted me out. I have been in pain management for 18 years. And I’ve never in my life been treated so bad. I paid for an office visit and waited to see you because I had questions. One of those questions was about my implanted neurostimulator unit. The battery has run out and I need the battery replaced. So I was needing more than just medication. I need surgery. But instead I was asked to leave the building. No suggestions, no referrals, nothing. So I write you this letter because your new patients DO NOT need to be treated so poorly. The staff needs to know how to have a smile. And how to have eye contact instead of a grumble. And maybe next time I actually get to speak to you and given referral to another doctor instead of just escorted out the building after paying and waiting an hour to see you. And in return I get escorted out. Courtesy goes a long way. And your office needs a lot more professionalism. As a first time patient I gave you a poor review on your site. And just because you aren’t going to take my insurance in a month, is not a good reason to throw me out of your office today. So Unhappy, Sue Stephens
