Get to know Family Physician Dr. Erin P. Edgar, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

An experienced family physician, Dr. Edgar is a member of the John Maxwell Leadership team.  Prior to this, he served as the Director of Medical Affairs for the Merck Federal Vaccines Program. Before joining Merck he served 33 years on active duty in the Army and spent 5 years after retirement as an Army Civilian as the Medical Director for the Department of Soldier Medicine.  This role included overseeing 5 Soldier-centered clinics at Ft. Hood, Texas, managing the healthcare and readiness of 40,000 soldiers, as well as clinical oversight of over 100 physicians, PAs, and NPs.

Pertaining to his educational pursuits, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the United States Military Academy in 1988, and received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 1992. Later, he completed a residency in family medicine at the Womack Army Medical Center in 1997. 

Recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP), Dr. Edgar also attended the US Army Command and General Staff College, and earned his Master of Strategic Studies (MSS) degree from the US Army War College in 2009.
