Dr. Calkwood is a board-certified neurologist and fellowship-trained neuro-ophthalmologist specializing in the comprehensive treatment of multiple sclerosis. His acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in 1987. He then went on to perform his internship in internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in 1988, his residency in neurology at Tulane University Medical Center in 1991, and his fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in 1992.

A nationally and internationally recognized leader in MS clinical care, Dr. Calkwood is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Among the doctor’s hospital privileges, he is affiliated with M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital, M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital, the University of Minnesota Medical Center, North Memorial Health Hospital, and Children’s Minnesota.
