Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Antonio Padua-Ramos, who serves patients in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

A top pulmonologist, Dr. Padua-Ramos is in practice with Centro Neumologico Del Oeste in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He is proficient in advanced bronchoscopy and pleural procedures as well as clinical sonography, incorporating limited echocardiography into everyday practice of dyspnea evaluation and guidance of in-office procedures. 

Professionally, he is experienced as a sleep lab director and administrator of a small single specialty group (4 pulmonologists), as well as has achieved excellence at outpatient management and in-hospital consultation.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Padua-Ramos graduated with his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1986. He then went on to perform his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in pulmonary disease at San Juan City Hospital in 1989 and 1991, respectively.

Possessing over 35 years of experience, he is board-certified in pulmonary disease, internal medicine, and sleep medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.

On a more personal note, Dr. Padua-Ramos is fluent in both English and Spanish.
