Is it safe to see a chiropractor with a herniated disc?
Yes, provided that the doctor you see does a full evaluation, including records review, X-rays, and MRI. If there are no records or the MRI is more than 6 months old, a new MRI is necessary. From there, the doctor can see if you are a candidate for chiropractic treatments. I use non-surgical spinal decompression with a very high success rate. READ MORE
Can chiropractors make a herniated disc worse?
Without a proper evidenced based evaluation regarding herniated discs, MRI are necessary to determine the degree/severity of the disc herniation If there is an protrusion/extrusion (herniation) and not evaluated as stated above the answer is yes. READ MORE
Is massage good for a herniated disc?
Massage is safe for helping to relax the superficial muscles of the spine. However, a herniated disc is not a muscle issue, but a neurological one. So, the massage cannot address the herniated disc, which is very deep in the spinal column. READ MORE

Dr. Ed began his pre-chiropractic education at Park College in Missouri, where he received his BA in Chemistry/Economics. After completing his study, he was accepted at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri. During his 4 year program there, courses included; biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-Ray, diagnosis, microbiology, pathology, chemistry, nutrition, and chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Cleveland College, After graduation Dr. Ed established his practice in Marlboro, Massachusetts in April of 1978.
