He is currently Chairman Emeritus and Professor of Radiation Oncology at the UHealth Radiation Oncology Department of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center – University of Miami Health System in Miami, Florida. Dr. Markoe earned his medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine (then Hahnemann Medical College) in 1977. He then went on to complete his residency in radiation oncology at Hahnemann University Hospital (Allegheny) in 1981. Dr. Markoe also completed a doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh and a post-doctoral year before Medical School..
Dr. Markoe is board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is an independent, not-for-profit organization and is one of 24 national medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
