Using the extensive knowledge gained over a career of more than 20 years, she cares for women in all stages of life, and specializes in adolescent gynecology, high-risk obstetrics, and menopause care. In regards to her educational background, Dr. Brathwaite earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and went on to the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California to earn her medical degree. She then went on to serve as Executive Chief Resident at Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew University Medical Center in Los Angeles.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Prior to starting her private practice, she worked at Southwest Medical Associates for 23 years, where she served as Chief of Obstetrics and Associate Medical Director for 17 years. In addition to her leadership role there, she was a member of the HPN Grievance Committee and Quality Review Committee, where she served as a peer reviewer, and helped to set standards of care policies and protocols.
