Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Jamil Khatri, who serves patients in Newark, Delaware.

A board-certified and fellowship-trained hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Khatri practices at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute as a provider in the group practice Christiana Care Oncology Hematology.

As a member of the thoracic multidisciplinary team, he specializes in treating patients diagnosed with lung cancer along with other cancer diagnosis and blood disorders.

Educated in Pakistan, Dr. Khatri graduated with his medical degree from Dow Med College. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey.

A member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, he is board-certified in medical oncology and hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

Actively involved in clinical research, Dr. Khatri has authored several publications in well-known journals.
