Dr. Proctor is an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon whose experience and skills include off-pump coronary artery bypass graft, mitral valve repair, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, donor and recipient implants, left ventricular assist device implants, as well as routine thoracic and cardiac procedures. She joined Genesis Health Group, Cardiac Surgery in Davenport, Iowa in September of 2016, relocating to the Midwest from Memphis, Tennessee, where she was the only female cardiovascular surgeon.
Led by board-certified cardiothoracic surgeons, the Genesis Heart Surgery team consists of highly-skilled healthcare professionals. Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, they perform a wide variety of complex and high-risk cardiothoracic and vascular procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, heart valve surgery, maze, and mini-maze procedures, abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair, congenital heart defect repair, open-heart surgery, and cancer surgery.
Following the completion of her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Philosophy from the Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee in 1992, Dr. Proctor went on to obtain her Master of Science (MS) degree in Biology from the University of Memphis in 2000. Wanting to pursue a career in medicine, she earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 2000.
As for her training, she completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 2005, her residency in thoracic surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 2007, and an additional residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2007.
The doctor’s practice in Memphis included heart transplants and implantation of left ventricular and bi-ventricular assist devices for the heart. She also became a surgical leader for transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
Passionate about her profession, she is board-certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, which is an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest.
