Jorge J. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, recreational boating, golfing, and woodworking. He speaks both English and Spanish.

Dr. Leal, a senior pain management specialist with Physician Partners of America Pain Relief Group – Tampa – Habana, has over three decades of experience managing patients’ pain.
He serves as a consultant to other physicians but is often the principal treating physician, providing care at various levels; such as treating the patient directly, prescribing medication, prescribing rehabilitative services, performing pain relieving procedures, counseling patients and families, directing a multidisciplinary team, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, and providing consultative services.
Back in 1980, Dr. Leal graduated with his medical degree from the School of Medicine at East Central University in the Domenician Republic. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in anesthesiology at the State University of New York.
After completing a year of fellowship training there in pain medicine, he joined the faculty as an instructor in pain medicine. Subsequently, he became an assistant professor of anesthesiology and pain medicine & co-director of the pain treatment center.
From 1989 until 1991, Dr. Leal became the director of the pain treatment center at the University of Mexico School of Medicine. He transitioned into private practice in Hollywood, Florida from 1992 to 1994. He then moved to Tampa and became an assistant professor of anesthesiology and pain medicine at the University of South Florida from 1994 until 2000, after which he returned to private practice.
In 2016, he joined Florida Pain Relief Group, now Physician Partners of America Pain Relief Group.
Concerned with the prevention of pain, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.
