Get to know Colorectal Surgeon Dr. Rodolfo Martinez, who serves patients in Miami, Florida. 

During an outstanding 35-year career in the healthcare industry, Dr. Martinez has garnered skills and knowledge in colorectal surgery and robotic surgery. He can be found on staff at Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami, Florida.

As an experienced colorectal surgeon, Dr. Martinez is also affiliated with multiple hospitals and medical centers in the area, including Baptist Hospital of Miami, Doctors Hospital-Coral Gables, Mercy Miami Hospital, and Bayside Ambulatory Surgery Center. 

His passion and drive to help others led him to pursue a career in the medical field. A native of Mexico, he earned his medical degree from Anahuac University School of Medicine in 1982. He later completed his residency in colorectal surgery at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, followed by his fellowship at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. After completing rigorous academic and professional training, he immediately began practicing in the field.

To continue to expand his skills and share his knowledge, Dr. Martinez is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, a professional society for surgeons specializing in colorectal surgery. It is one of the oldest surgical societies, having been established in 1899.

Colorectal surgery is a field in medicine dealing with disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. The field is also known as proctology, but this term is now used infrequently within medicine and is most often employed to identify practices relating to the anus and rectum in particular. Colorectal surgeons specialize in the preoperative, operative, and postoperative care of patients with colorectal disorders. They have comprehensive knowledge about general surgery and in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. 

With a successful career at hand, one that he attributes to his work ethic and his passion for his work, Dr. Martinez plans to continue to thrive in his career. He plans to continue to deliver excellent patient care by utilizing cutting-edge technology.
