Academically, his journey in the field began with the acquisition of his medical degree from Tulane University of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He further honed his expertise during his residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. 

Dedicated to clinical excellence, Dr. Smith is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Holding membership status, he is a member of “Physician’s Who Care,” a professional society that brings together healthcare practitioners dedicated to advocating for patient-centered and ethical healthcare practices.

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Smith holds esteemed academic positions that further exemplify his commitment to advancing the field of medicine. Since 2016, he has served as an Associate Professor at both the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM)
