In private practice for over forty three years , Dr. Nawaz is a well-versed gastroenterologist who is a member of the medical staff of John T.Mather Memorial and St. Charles Hospitals in Port Jefferson and on the faculty of Stony Brook University Hospital, Long Island New York.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the Liaquat Medical College, University of Sindh, Pakistan in 1969 He received his initial training in Internal Medicine at the same College before serving as a Captain in the Pakistan Army. He migrated to the USA in 1972. Completed his three year residency in Internal Medicine at Northport Veterans Medical Center from 1972 to 1975. He then completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology from 1975 to 1977 at the VA Medical Center Northport and the University of Oxford England.
A Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG), Dr. Nawaz is well trained and experienced endoscopist and is board-certified in Internal Medicine and twice board certified in Gastroenterology by ABIM, which is physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
