Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Mahta has been serving as an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University since 2017. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Attending in Clinical Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center.
Before embarking on his professional journey, he received his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. He completed several research fellowships at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Harvard Medical School, the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, and the University of California, San Diego. Thereafter, he completed his residency in neurology at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, followed by a clinical spine fellowship at the same educational venue, as well as a fellowship in neurocritical care at Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medical College.
The doctor is a member of several professional organizations, including the Neurocritical Care Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association, and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Passionate about his field, he is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
Additionally, he is board-certified in neurocritical care by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties, whose mission is to promote high-quality patient-centered care through accreditation of training programs and certification of physicians in neurologic subspecialties.
Among his various accomplishments, Dr. Mahta is the author of several published papers, book chapters, abstracts, and presentations.
