Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Charles S. Johnson, who serves patients in Hickory, North Carolina.

Dr. Johnson is a board-certified dermatologist with over two decades of specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology. He practices at Piedmont Plastic Surgery & Dermatology (Hickory/Tate Blvd. Building 100) in North Carolina.

Treating patients of all ages, he has performed well over 30,000 Mohs cases. He also treats melanoma in the early stages, diagnoses many other skin problems, and develops unique treatment plans for each individual patient.

He then completed his internship and residency in dermatology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he remained on faculty and taught residents as an Assistant Clinical Professor within the Division of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery for 3 years.

Specializing in skin cancer prevention and treatment, he is board certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

Active in the community, Dr. Johnson maintains hospital privileges at Frye Regional Medical Center. 

In addition, he is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the North Carolina Dermatology Association, the American Society for Mohs Surgery, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery & Aesthetics.

A dermatologist is a specialist who manages skin diseases and addresses both internal and external causes, including cosmetic concerns, involving the skin. Dermatological duties include providing consultations and screening tests, as well as undertaking cutaneous surgical procedures.
